Hi to everyone, I found you website this morning and I love the way everything sounds. As you can see from the number of posts I've already made. I have played EQ and UO for about a year each, but have quit both. I beta tested AC, but never bought the game, although I get weekly updates about whats going on from my friends. I wanted to ask a few questions that I didn't see any posts on.
1)How customizable is the mouse/keyboard functions going to be? This is one reason I didn't pick up AC, I'm a lefthander and their setup just never felt comfortable to me also my brother plays and he's a righty and switching was a pain. The best I have experienced was with UO and the ability to copy the marcos in at the beginning of a session to make it realy customizable.
2)I know you are planning several different races, but how customizable are the looks going to be? With AC and UO you have one race Human. UO the clothes were the only that set you apart, even then alot looked alike. AC you can pick alot of stuff, but in the end (all asian, and can't tell a woman for a man in armor at all). EQ with the many races its a little better, but since its a set face of 5 or 6 you tend to get alot of the same look and no choice on clothes or color at all. I wouldn't play a female at all, the designers we're diffentily sexist in this one.

Actually, the Brickhouse boys have been busy revamping the 3-D engine, and thats consumming all their time....They have been quiet about 2 weeks now....But once the engine is where they want it, there should be a small explosion of information....well, there better be :)

Welllll, thats that they SAY theyre doing anyway. Personally, I have my own ideas on what they are REALLY doing. Two words. Mead Hall.
Your not fooling anyone you know.
slitherrr and the other guy are the mead hall people, not "real" employees, they are just helping out with the message boards, that is why they have the special rank thing...
rich and rolfe have been doing the engine,

Evidentally you didn't see Cynycal's post where he had the same problem, heh. Personally, the frowny and "asses out" is a bit funnier...

Whew, I've been chained to my compiler for the last few weeks writing a world editor for our new 3D engine. I finally hit a breakpoint and I'm taking a few hours off :) I'll try to post some "teaser" shots soon, but they'll just be from the editor, not the game itself, so there won't be a sky with fancy clouds or anything. The game is still using the old engine, I guess that's next on my todo list.
Anyway,
(1) completely customizable, pretty much. Think Quake or Jedi Knight, not your typical RPG. You'll have a big list of actions and you can set your key (or a couple of keys) for that action. We could always add in a "save hotkeys" feature so that you could save your settings to a file, just remind me when the time comes. (i.e. when you're playing in beta and you realize I forgot to add it).
(2) Let's see, a lot of this is still up in there air. We'll have several different models for each race. Similar, but slightly different body types. I'd like to have customizable faces ala Meridian 59 (where you pick your nose, eyes, mouth, etc), but I really haven't thought too much about how to do it yet. But I don't see it being a problem. I ABSOLUTELY CAN'T STAND AC's characters. They are horrid. The faces aren't even the worst part, but I won't even go into that. I think EQ's characters are great for the most part. Probably why the game is so damned popular, since there's nothing else going on in EQ.
Clothing will provide some extra cusomization. Buy a hot pink robe if you want to stand out from the crowd. If you look hard enough, you might even find a tailor willing to custom design you some really nice looking clothing. I think they'll be plenty of customization in Arcanity, I wouldn't worry about it.

Rich said,
"just remind me when the time comes. (i.e. when you're playing in beta and you realize I forgot to add it). "
There goes another 3 X 5 card for Kymeri and myself....Rich, you got any of those valet parking stubs left? :)

I like the idea of choosing what your features to customize your features but I refuse to "pick your nose".

I guess that means they will now have to put an anti-bacterial cleanser in the game!

How about going after product endorsement and get backing from Kleenex for a plug?
