View Full Version : I was right!

I just happened to roll by this website today and low and behold, it turns out I was right about Arcanity not coming out! :D

Anywho, just thought I'd make the standard, "I told you so" post.

And I've gotta say, good luck at Sigil. While I'm kind of weary about the types of games coming from a place with Brad "The Vision" McQuaid and Gordon "Spin talkin'" Wrinn, at least they have the ability to actually create and release a game.

P.S I also just noticed that the title of my previous post was changed...very clever...immature, but clever :)

P.P.S I realize the irony of calling the mods/devs immature in an "I told you so" post. So no need to point that out to me :)

If you would have read the news carefully you would have come across the following words.

"To shorten a long story, Arcanity is going on the back burner for a while..."

It did not say Arcanity is ending. It said it is on pause. Like when you want to go to the fridge to get something to eat while watching a movie. You unpause it when you get back and then finish it. I can't wait to tell you in the game, "I told you so".

Ahah yeah. I remember when *Glitchless put "Dawn" on the backburner.

And there are still some poor saps waiting for "Dawn" to be released.

*If you do not know what Glitchless or Dawn are, do a little research on the web about them. I think you will find many similarities between Arcanity and Dawn.

I can't wait to tell you in the game, "I told you so".

Too bad that will never happen, seeing as how Arcanity is dead.

Arcanity has been put on pause for a bit. I am taking classes, Rolfe is working his new job, ect...

There is nothing more to it. If we cancled the game why would we continue to pay for the hosting of this site? Since you are reading this, we obviously have not.

*If you do not know what Glitchless or Dawn are, do a little research on the web about them. I think you will find many similarities between Arcanity and Dawn.

I very much enjoyed the demise of Dawn as it was, honestly, a crock, a fake and the guy in charge was so far up himself he hadn't seen daylight in several years. With that said, Arcanity is NOTHING like Dawn. Arcanity is a genuine project (unlike Dawn) undertaken by genuine people (unlike Dawn) which never promised the world, just a new look at growing genre (unlike Dawn which made totally outlandish promises). So, no I don't really see much similarity between the two.

Seriously, why did you post this Bradley? I've been following this game for years and everyone involved in the project and indeed most of the regulars here on the forum seemed to handle themselves in a friendly civilised manner and really don't deserve to have someone come in here and have a big laugh at this major setback.

The funny thing about Trolls I have noticed over the years is when you expose them to the bright light of day, the either run away or their flesh bubbles and boils.

now there nothing wrong with trolls... refering to spammers as trolls is just mean and rude... to trolls:p it's trollist....
I can't actually think of a better name though, perhaps "giblets" or something:p

Actually Trolls, in this sense, are people who show up in an online community with the sole purpose of irritating everyone they can, They use insults, language, and other rude tactics so they can get off on the reactions to their posts.

They are usually immature people (Note I said immature, not young. This "disease" effects all ages.)who don't have anything better to do.

We all can see the difference between the two now.

Gordon actually stayed at SOE. Even if you don't agree with Brad's design theories, which many people don't, no one can deny that at the very least he has an amazing talent for assembling amazing people. I'm obviously one of the weaker resumes at Sigil. Most of the people there have damned impressive resumes.

Jeff, I really appreciate your words and your perspective. In as objective a view as I can hold given the circumstance, I'd say I agree with you in that Arcanity and Dawn are very different. While there was most certainly some naivity on our parts with regard to the Arcanity project, there wasn't nearsomuch as there seemed to be in the Dawn team. All in all, I learned an amazing amount doing Arcanity and I got a lot out of it. You might say that Arcanity was simultaneously a success and a failure for me.

Bradley, if you're a troll, you're a prince among trolls. Your post was negative, but not outrageously illogical or unreasonable. I'd say you're speaking your mind, not just trying to peeve everyone off. I appreciate that your negative input is reasonably presented. There will be nay-sayers. Know that Arcanity is still a long-term goal for me and most of the rest of the team. We're all tied up in things that are important to each of us. As Lee stated, most every dev's time is being consumed by something that adds relevant experience to the pallet. We're all moving in a forward direction.

That's why he is not banned. He spoke his opinion without attacking anyone. That is the guidelines I use when deciding if someone deserved to be banned.

We ask that our members speak their opinions and if they are negative please try to include ways that things can be improved. Constructive Critisism, as opposed to Distructive Critisism.

Bradley knew when he started this thread he would get flamed. That took guts. It has not been that bad of a flame either, mostly defensive reactions. We just need to figure out what we can do to make this thread into a positive move.

Seriously, why did you post this Bradley?

I guess it would prolly be because my other thread got locked and had the title changed so it kind of irked me a little. I was enjoyinging that thread, I wanted to see what those people claiming I was from a rival company would say next. :)

And besides, someone was bound to make a post like this, I just figured it would be better off with me than some other troll who would post nothing but strings of curses and inane babble.

There is nothing more to it. If we cancled the game why would we continue to pay for the hosting of this site? Since you are reading this, we obviously have not.

Because you want to keep up the illusion that Arcanity isn't dead? Or maybe just because you all really enjoy the community so you want to keep it going. I don't read minds ;)

Actually Trolls, in this sense, are people who show up in an online community with the sole purpose of irritating everyone they can, They use insults, language, and other rude tactics so they can get off on the reactions to their posts.

I wouldn't call myself a troll under that definition. I didn't make my original thread just to irritate everyone. I was voicing my opinion that the game will never see the light of day. As far as I know I wasn't rude, use bad language, or insult anyone directly.

Bradley, if you're a troll, you're a prince among trolls

Well, I don't consider myself a troll, but I'm flattered :)

Gordon actually stayed at SOE.

That's right. I got him confused with Jeff Butler.

I've been following this game for years and everyone involved in the project and indeed most of the regulars here on the forum seemed to handle themselves in a friendly civilised manner and really don't deserve to have someone come in here and have a big laugh at this major setback

I think it's funny because a few months before they "put Arcanity on the backburner" I had a thread stating that this game wouldn't see the light of day. I thought it was funny that everyone supporting Arcanity in the other thread was (imo at least) proved wrong :)
