Hey Guys!
When a bug is submitted one of the moderators of this forum will do the following:
Modify the subject of the bug post to be more precise (based on the replies to the thread) and prepend the current status of the issue.
Listed below are the states an issue/bug may be in:
OPEN: The bug has been put into the "system" and is being prioritized by the developers.
IN PROGRESS: The bug has reached the front of the priority queue and is being worked on.
RESOLVED: There has been a fix created for the bug and it should be fixed. It is now up to the players to see if the fix actually worked :-)
CLOSED: The issue has been closed either due to it being fixed, no further complaints, it being discovered that the issue was fictious, or something we are not going to fix (e.g. the submitted bug: sky needs to be pink with pokka dots).
So here is a walkthrough of how this works.
0)
Player57 comes up and says:
subject: can't patch!
message: Hey the patcher is broken. It is missing some DLL. Please fix I want to play!
1)
PlayerA replies:
Yeah I have the same problem. MSVCP71.dll is missing. What do I do?
2)
Moderator sees that there is a problem and updates the thread to be:
OPEN: Patcher is missing MSVCP71.dll and doesn't run.
3)
Dev replies:
Ahh looks like we need to include that with the .zip.
4)
*time passes and that tasks gets to the top of the priorty queue*
5)
Dev changes the thread title to:
IN PROGRESS: Patcher is missing MSVCP71.dll and doesn't run.
6)
Dev completes the fix / task.
7)
Dev changes the thread title to:
RESOLVED: Patcher is missing MSVCP71.dll and doesn't run.
So now the fix should be live for all of the players to check out and see if the fix was successful! Or will be live at the next patch.
8)
PlayerB replies:
Hey I have no problems I can patch no problem!
9)
Player57 replie:
Sweet! I just DLed the new .zip and I can run the patcher. In fact I am patching right now!!!
10)
Moderator changes the thread title to:
CLOSED: Patcher is missing MSVCP71.dll and doesn't run.
And probably locks the thread. This issue has been fixed. If there is another issue that is the same or similiar a new thread should be started.
Basically, by doing this we give feedback to everyone so people that have submitted a thread can see that progress is occuring. And it helps the developers stay sane with all of the bugs and ideas people will be having!
