game exits after patch

Bug where the game works fine. Then you patch one day, double click to play, game window starts to open and then disappears.

This bug has been popping up recently quite a bit. Rich just found it and it should be fixed in the latest patch.

Could this also be responsible for the game exiting in the middle of play? :o

Hard to say off the top of my head. Most likely not, but it's possible it could have been causing many weird bugs.
