Cant log in

Ok not sure if this is a bug or what but this is what happens to me. I down loaded the client and it downloaded the patch and then I try to log in and greate a character and I type in the name and a password it says submitting and then nothing. PLease help.

Thanks for the info! But now yet anther stupid question , are there 2 servers for the game like a patch sever thsn a log in or something? Cause the game patched ok then just wouldnt do anything after that...lol. Not really important but Im nosey.

still wont let me do anything, but its not locking up it lets me cancel right out just isnt sending anything out from what I can tell. I thinkIm going to try reinstalling the software see if that helps....

Double check to make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card. If your drivers don't support OpenGL, it can "freeze up".

I'm not having any trouble creating a character. Have you made any progress?

Ok here is the lastest. Apparently the client doesnt like my firewall (norman) so I disabled it which allowed me to now create a a log in and even created a character but my lucks still holding now when I try to log in with said charater it says error loading character please report. LOL so here I am...reporting. What now?

Thanks alot for the fast help. And its only in this game ...lol Been beta testing for around 10 years now and have never had this much trouble with a game. But I have faith is only a temporary set back.

Oh yeah plenty but nothing like beta testing get to have all the fun.....yeah Im having some now....lol. No I really like to beta test and have some input on the games development. I'd like to think Im making it a little better for future gamers.PLus ...yeah.... all this FUN!!!

OK, you should be set now. Your character was in a half logged in state on the server so when you were trying to log in, the server was rejecting you because it thought your account was already logged in. I reset the server and you should be able to log in now unless something about your comp is actually causing that half logged in state to happen. This half logged in state bug is a regular problem and hopefully we'll have time to fix it soon with some rework on the login server.

Ok maybe no wet feet yet. Ok it just don like me...I tried again and I bet Im suck again just logged ino a black screen and when I tried again says. Error loading character.....is there an echo here???? lol ok now what?

I feel your pain brotha. The servers don't seem to like me either. Rolfe will get to the bottom of this eventually. Until then, just gotta be patient :D

It sounds like a detail of your connection that arcanity doesn't like. You said you disabled your firewall. Was that software or hardware? Do you have a router? Are you running the windows firewall? Are you on Windows XP? It's been a while since I've seen the networking code; I'll review how the client/server connection is established. Maybe there's something in there that doesn't account for some stricter firewall users. Give me whatever details you can.

Also I didn't see if you responded to Rich's mention of OpenGL drivers. Please make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card because you could experience what you're describing if you didn't have OpenGL drivers. You could tell by waiting a solid minute or 2 after you get the black screen and see if anything draws.

everything I got is now disabled and yes I probly do need to update my drivers which I will do later tonite. I still have the slow dial up they dont have dsl in my area yet. They tell me the boondocks isnt in there area...lol
and as for my stuff I am runing windows ME, I have xp but didnt like it to well so its no longer on here. I have a AMD Athonxp chip, and a radeon 9600 pro graphics card, dont think Im runnig the windows fire wall, the other one I have is called norman (disabled in game) and not sure what else you want. Did I mention that when I try to log in the first time I get blown off the internet too? Dont know if that helps or not. If you need anything else let me know I have that directx diagnostice thing that I can copy and send to you that will give you all the stuff if you want it. Other than that will update drivers and see if that helps. I have to say I do like the fast help its nice to have people making the game go. Thanks alot!!!

Yeah, try updating the drivers and cross your fingers. Just go to ATI and grab the latest. I'd guess there's about a 30% chance that'll fix the problem based on what I've heard of it. I hope that's all it is. Keep us posted!

Ok heres the latest. I downloaded the drivers but since I am apparently the last person in this hemisphere to be running windows me windows is no longer testing radeon drivers for windows meand I got an pdated driver for it but windows wont install it because it wasnt complient with windows ME so what now? And of course my luck is holding........

You sure you got the right driver? There's a radeon driver for ME on the site. Sure you didn't download the XP one or something? And did windows say it WON'T install it? Or did it warn you against it with an option to continue anyway?

it said in order to maintain the reliablity of your system the following driver will not be installed radeon 9600 something or other and then the pop up came up and said the installation failed. So I still tried to run the game ad no still nothing. So thats all I got for now. Any idea on what next?

Ok I tried to download another driver for this stupid radeon piece of crap and yes with a little research thats what my radeons card sems to be, anyway I downloaded it and yet again windows would not let me install it but it changed something and after that the game client wouldnt even load after it patched. So I reinstalled the old drivers and we are back to error loading character please report. But I did find out that something as minor as changing screen size can cause the button at the log in screen to become froze altho you can still close the client window you cant get the buttons to work at all not with alt tab or anything I tried anyway but resizing my screen to something it liked got me all the way to error load character...lol. Still I need help any suggestions while I still have some hair left?

Ok the client doesnt liek windows ME Im guessing because now I have installed windows xp I can log in but with in seconds the game locks up windows throws up an error report and the client closes.So now what?

Did you download a fresh copy of Arcanity.zip from the webiste for your XP install?

I got it all by myself! Windows Xp allows some stupid spam pop ups and by disabling that I can now log in and play (so far) with out problems. So with any luck things are now looking up! See ya in the game and thanks for the help.
