Time to get a list of all the people who plan on making or joining in some of the already planned guilds... This way we can all get an idea of eachother's interests, style, and needs as characters... so lets go for it!

PS. I plan on making or having a major role in a guild specializing in associating player who are trained in the physical arts, such as fighting and knightry with those who collect spells so that generalized paladin and overall fighter mage classes, AKA people who like to kick your @$$ face to face, but like to try to get the upper hand by using magic, throwing of their opponents' gaurds, and upping their own abilities (temporarily, of course)through the use of magics, allowing one man not only to defeat an opponent quickly and effectively, but do the same with a group.....join me in my holy quest....

PPS... Sorry for the long message! =Þ Start posting!

I know for fact that Beldragos is planning on starting a very serious guild for the Arcane Arts. It's his hope, I believe, that the guild will help to further the studies or the Arcane Arts around all of Novus. I don't know all the details as of yet but I believe he will have a charter within the next few weeks. He's around here somewhere, I'm sure he has more details on it. BEEEEEELDRAAAAAAAAAAAGOOOOOOOOOS!!!! HAS ANYONE SEEN BELDRAGOS?

I will most likely be involved with the Arcane arts guild..assuming the Psionics and priestly do not break off as those are the parts I am interested in.....

WHAT!!

Oh, sorry.

I am planning to start a guild for any magic weilding characters centered around the four types of magic currently in the game. Those being Priestly, Druidical, Wizardly, and Psionic. When I get more info on the skill structure so I can determine how to rank members I will submit a proposal to the Brickhouse staff for the formation of the guild. Until then I am collecting the names of the members who are interested in joining. You can email me at the following adress if you are interested or post in the threads. I am trying to see if the players can teach spells and skills to each other so I can set up instructors in the various fields of expertice. So far anybody who shows a mastery in their field will be concidered for the position of Instructor.
One of the threads mentioned the possibility of Cooperative Magic and I will explore the possibilities further.
The question of spell research is still one of the unanswered questions. I hope that the staff will allow the research and creation of new arcanes. The process that I came up with is simular to the one used in the tabletop game AD&D. The players have to submit a rough draft of the spell to the GM to be approved and/or changed and then given back to the player with the cost of research in time and money. The player adjusts the spell and they come to an agreement on the spell. It works for the tabletop and I think it might work for Arcanity. The staff, particulary Rolfe, must approve of all spells so that they can program the effects into the game.
The greatest and most basic advantage in the guild is a structure that the other players can turn to for some kind of suppurt in the other members. The other benifits, depending on the information I receive, could include a place where the other gamers can come to get the services of a spellcaster, a system where you could charge for using your skills with a discount for the members like temples would have for their followers, a code of ethics for the serious role-players to follow. Also I would like to set up a method for settling disputes between members so that to the others we would be a solid guild supporting all members. That would also prevent backstabbing, or at least keep it to a minimum(hopefully).
These are some of the ideas I am throwing about. I welcome any others.

My e-mail address is beldragos@yahoo.com

The guild will have it's own address once it is up and running.

At this point I haven't a clue what kind of charactor I'm going to play. I usually pick a hybrid class like shamen or druid. I plan on staying outside any guilds for awhile. Just consider me a neutral country, so all of you can come to me for advice or healing, etc.

BelDragos

Agreed! I'll come to you for advice when I need some.

The first project the school has to wotk on ta a doorway that detects and wards against undead. We can sell io to the rest of the world if we can make it work.

hehe.. who would have thought that college would take up a lot of one's time? Geez, a lot's changed since I last came here. Anyway, Guild of Magic- Bel, sign me up! My Dyson character is always an old, old man who studies the mechanics of death and spouts grandfatherly advice (i like to start with minimum physical stats-- works for the elderly bit). Since it looks like there's going to be friction between the undead guild and the Mage's guild, it should make for an interesting time. Any place for a crotchety old codger, complaining about "young, whippersnapping, upstart magelords?" :)

If there's not at least one crotchety old man in the tower than its not truly a mage guild....

True True!!

Remember to e-mail me if you want. I'm working on gathering information from the staff so I can draw up a charter and send it to the Staff to post as an Official Guild. The more people I can get to joine the better the chance that they will make us part of the Arcanity world, besides being players.

Do you know how many people you need to have a guild?

BelDragos
11-29-2000, 12:40 AM
I haven't been told yet. Probably a dozen or so to get it started. I have to determine positions that senor staff can fill within the guild and pick the best candidates from those interested. I would like to set up an apprenticeship system to usher new members into the guild.

If multiple charcters are allowed (And I dont knwo why they would not be) I woudl liek to start a Theives guild, or Rogues guild. I enjoy playing a neutral good theif. Dont really know who the whole system is gonna work, so this is all kinda sketchy.

Ah..more guilds..good

I definately agree. More guilds are very good indeed.
Personally, I'd much rather see a smattering of small guilds then a few overguilds. How about a Fisherman's Guild? They could have a shack "museum" somewhere with nifty items dug up from the sea. Or a Forest Guild, made up of Druids and Rangers? How about racial guilds, like the "Associations of Amazing Acks!" or somesuch...? Anyone else following me here?

Hm... expanding on the Acks! guild. How about the following:

Association of Altruistic Acks! (healing, charity)

Association of Angry Acks! (knights, battle mages)

Association of Amiable Acks! (brewers, merchants, etc)

Association of Ameleorative Acks! (all who apologize a lot)

Association of Arrogant Acks! (dashing rogues, all egotists)

and so on and so forth...

I'd join "Amiable Acks" in a second, if I could make a suitably friendly Akazi skilled in cooking, or something similar.

It's also good to see that others would like to start thier own guilds. I wish you all the luck and if the mage guild can assist please contact us.
