i have been looking around and havent really seen any character desricptions and I was wondering what they are gonna look like? Maybe I just havent looked hard enough and there are, but I figured posting would be easier.
Mosquitoes only live for one day ya know, so if they skip breakfast I guess they had a bad childhood.

There have been one or two threads on charactors, but their probily more than 30 days old. They haven't said alot about the different races yet and what benefits there will be to being a certain race. There will be no classes per say. The game is going to be skill based and they stated that no race will be banned for taking on any of the skills offered. They haven't said yet whether there is going to be a skill cap, but I think there won't be, they did say that once you reached a certain level in a skill in might be difficult of impossible to learn certain other skills. They have a good example under the Game section on skills.

Well, there are pictures of the Acks, and a preliminary description (mainly that they're friendly little fuzzbuckets with a tribal culture, although they say a bit more than that). Anything that's already been determined is in the Game section, so have a look if you haven't already.

Our race/class/skill system is going to be very unrestricting. We'll be adding races all the time after release, it's not going to be a static set of races and classes like most other games. We're having a little trouble with concept art right now, most of the stuff you see on our concept art page is outdated.
Here's some of the races you could expect at release: acks, humans, minotaurs, ogres, and elves. Anything else is undecided, but there will probably be another 3 to 5 besides those at release. We're kicking around a bunch of them, such as some dwarves, draconians, pixies, some undead reaces, among others.

I bet the Undead Lords would just love you Rich if you made some undead races such as Liches or skeletons.

The worst thing about the litches is that they are mages that aren't worth cooking on a stick. Not enough meat.
I see that you are still concidering my draconian race. Thanks

What about aliens or mutants races? That is something I have yet to see in an on-line RPG. :)

:eek:Somehow I don't envision rotting flesh as tasteing like jerky. Please, I love jerky and that thought is a bit revolting.

Rotting? The well made undead (not zombies, which are the failures mostly) are wrapped in SPICES specifically to keep them from rotting, just like jerkey.
Although of course some are a lil dry, and you can forget skeletons. I suppose you can use the dry ones in stew, they come pre spiced.

I want a 4' long flying wasp race. I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, Iwanna, Iwanna, Iwanna, Iwanna, IWANNA, IWANNA IWANNA I WANT AAAH! This is a MUST or your game will surely fail! Of course you don't want that to happen. So I will expect to se my wasp race really soon right!!!!!!!!
The front 2 legs can use weapons (albeit small light ones, Dagger, short sword, etc...) Don't forget to leave in bite and stinger attacks! yea baby!
IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA! IWANNA!

Back on the subject of races, I'd like to re-iterate my posistion that Undead not be a "race" in and of themselves... undead make far more sense if you become one after taking some sort of action as a living character.

That would be fine too Dyson. If a charactor of any race could activily choose to become the evil undead by a quest or a pack with on of the evil gods, that would work. Then their charactor takes on the possibility of learning skills only availble to undead and their charactor graphic now looks undead.

Yes, becoming undead later on would make far more sense. A weak, beginning character would seem unnatural (no pun intended) as a Lich, for instance. Such characters could also take up an anti-hero place in the storyline perhaps forming recognized groups, perhaps groups that could be opposed by the heroic player-base. The Anti-Hero is quite a popular theme... Vampire stories and games, as well as the infamous Elric of Melnibone have all proven that.
Just a few ideas, eh?

Are they going to release any screenshots of characters interacting anytime soon? The terrain is great and all but I cant get a real feel of the game.

The undead MUST not start as beginning characters. It would give too much power to the new character and trying to balance them would guarentee non-existance. Take away the powers that they are feared for and they are now on the endangered list.
They should only receive the undead statis through curses, evil Deities, of powerful magic.

Or through acts of evil...
Such as hitting rock-bottom on whichever "karma" system goes into use.

Jaguar: Well, the devs really don't have anything for the critters to interact with yet, and like they said earlier, they don't wanna doctor up images like Horizons does. Just have patience, once they get the system in they'll be more than willing to provide.
Hey sense the world is post cataclism they could have some kind a mutated human race. For example: a race of humans that lived underground to survive after the spell. Their skin is very pale from living without sun and their weaker than regular humans. Instead or strength they have some natural traits like enhanced night vision, being quicker or maybe better with magic. Just a thought.

Keep thinking about how you would like the sub-race to be and post it in my "races" thread. If you make it clear and balanced the DEVs might concider it and put it into the beta.
