Well, here I am the newest member of the board. I'm starting to read all of the posts. I'd love to get in on the discussion, but I figure I had better get all the background down before I start repeating what others have said. Any suggestions as to where I can find more info would be much appreciated.

and then any thread older than 20 days that is listed as a hot topic. The best thing you can do is to read every post in a thread before posting in the thread. Don't worry about saying something thats been said, no matter what you do it may happen, and thats good too. It allows the developers to know more people like that idea. Anyway, welcome to the boards. Grab a seat by the fire, I'm roasting up some meat, and Slitherrr has some mead for you. :)

Even for those of us here a while, the FAQ is a good place to start, just because you cant always remeber what you read long ago about those things already decided. It helps because you can avoid posting on things already decided, and know what has been decided or at least proposed to form a framework to work off of for the in progress parts.
My habit sometimes now is, open FAQ in new window, flip back and forth to see whats up while posting.
Oh, and be warned, that meat roasting over the fire could end up being YOU. I suggest when around Wrentia you try and look as unappatizing as possible.
Or just ply her with mead, give her enough and you can probaly get away. You run, she crawls :D (Canadian beer may also do the trick).

Thanks for the advice. I've been through the faq and all of the other info on the site I think, but I was a little tired when i read it all so I'm sure some of it has slipped my mind already.
As for Wrentia, Canadian beer should do it with her. I'm a Canadian bartender and as such have built up a pretty good immunity to some of it's more nasty effects.
*Pulls up a chair beside Wrentia and offers her a nice cold beer.*
"Whatcha cooking?"

Better not be me.
*Checks to see if he recognizes the "meat" on the spit before sitting down.
Welcome to the game.

Thanks BelDragos,
I look forward to meeting you all, and avoiding the spit for as long as possible. Seems Wrentia is also a warrior, so possibly I can rely a little on the cameraderie shared between fellow warriors. Not counting on it, but just maybe.
Wrentia:
I hear that if you cook a mage long and slow enough you can even make the tough sinewy ones as tender as lamb. =)

It's all a-boat the brew in MY spell book. You Hoser's do a fair job at some kiddies milk, but if you really want your head spinning, try some of my homemade, eh? Fresh out of my kettle every morning after brewing all night...I'm roasting a bit of Lum....er LAMB, and you're welcome to a taste. Savory meat is all in the spices, and the more fight they put up before getting on my spit, the better.
Don't be scared now, that large blade is just my little ole dinner knife. Have a seat by the fire, and we can trade recipies for mage. Bel seems to worry about me, which is good...keeps the little guy on his toes. Thirty's a decent drinking partner till he starts falling down...Slitherrr is over by the wagon trying to impress that bush with his jumps and spins. The boy should just pick up a sword and kill what needs to be killed. All that jumping around should be saved for other types of recreation! <cackle> My sister Ky is around somewhere, we're sisters of the heart if not by blood. Dyson is probably out and about looking for a good conversation so he can impress someone with large words. The problem with him is he makes sense most of the time, and I don't even like large words. Ah well, you look thirsty....try something out of my flask....ohhh, don't cough so! Its really as smooth as mothers milk. Hmmmm, you better sit down before you fall down....you look a bit queasy. That's a good boy, now...try some of this fresh roast, you'll like him...er...it.

A fine roast it seems. Perhaps the smallest of slices. Yes, delicious!! You are correct about spices being the secret. I especially like mages as they usually come with handy little pouches of spices secreted all about them. Makes the cooking all the easier. Nice of the mages to think of us warriors in such a way, preparing themselves to "serve" us best. Might I try another little nip of that fine brew? Bawdy stuff that, burns all the way down, but sets a glow in my belly the likes of which I've never felt. That's a mighty fine knife you have there, you don't hunt with it though do you? I would think a fine warrior such as yourself would have chose the path of the true warrior. Relying only on oneself in battle, using no weapon so that failure may not be blamed on any but yourself for not being prepared and alert. Hmmmm..... seems everything is moving a bit, do you have a mage hidden in the corner playing little tricks on me? Perhaps one more sip of that brew will straighten things out........

Don't go blaming us mages for your drunkeness, Thracyl. (...Pay no attention to the man behind the tree...)

Oh, he's gone and tried the brew now, clouding the mind and the spirit with a beverage as crude as beer ::Chuckles:: Now mead, that's a TRUE warrior's drink, made especially for those with the discipline for a battle, soul to soul and fist to fist with the enemy. ::Wide grin, then more bush-impressing martial arts maneuvers::

Ohhhh..... my head!!!! Wrentia, what do you put in this stuff? Ah well, if it doesn't kill you or land you on a spit it makes you stronger. I'm off to find a bush to impress, or maybe sleep in.

Greetings,
And to Thracyl as well, for pointing this place out to me...
It's late and I've only read a little of what the Brick House has to offer, looking good I must say...
To the Future, then!
