I ask a question and the person after me answers it, and then that person asks another question. And then someone answers that question, and asks one of their own.

What was the greatest experience you've had on any MMORPG ( a single event that happened )?

I beta tested EQ in Phase 4 (and played it for many months)
and played AC for 2 months. In all that time I can't ever recall any gaming experience that really stands out. The best thing I can think of is a conversation I had in AC with one of the Newbie Guides (I forgot what they are called) that talked to me in character for almost half an hour. It was one of the few times I ever saw someone remain consistent to their character. :)

Now for my question:

What destroys your "suspension of disbelief" when playing a MMRPG?

I don't know about goofy, but it was fun to play with. I played a Barbarian Shaman on EQ and I loved playing with the shrink spell. It was so funny watching bady Trolls and Ogres running about.

Stepping into a large rusty spike comes to mind :-(
It's not a pleasent sight to see a spike with a diameter of 1-2 cm lodged into your foot, and it hurts like hell (obviously). I can't really recommend it.

What is the thing that appeals to you most in MMORPG's in general and Arcanity in particular?

I've never played in an on-line game before so I don''t have the experience but I feel like I belong here. Like a sence of community.

Uh oh, can of worms alert!

As for Napster, well the cat is out of the bag... So many Mp3's have been redistributed you could probably get songs just by putting out a query to your icq buddies. In other words, it's too late to shut it down anyway. They'll probably just add a user-fee, and send the record companies a few tribute coins. There will always be some fellow coming up with a better napster in the future anyway. Frankly, I wonder what will happen if the power of the record companies does crash...

Now, how about software piracy...?

WOW Sul! You hit that RIGHT on the nose. Those are my thoughts exactly!

Answer: Software Piracy? As of now that really isn't too much of a concern as much as it used to be. Windows is a great example. Windows WANTS you to pirate their software. It's just their way of ensuring they have the largest hold on the market. Video Games have their Key Codes ( which Blizzard has mastered ), and most games are now online games, so they almost all have key codes.

Question: If you could have any super power what would it be and why?

The power to control and interact with electricity. I could enter the computers and use them to travel where I wished, kinda like teleportation but I would be the energy pulsing through the system. I could also interact and control whatever I would be in through electrical manipulation. Talk about being the ultimate Video Game Tester. Also no more typing!!!!!

I'm not sure anyone realy knows that, and I think It's different for each individual. I think true love is taking that person as is, learning to compromise on the little things. Trust and Honesty number one in love.

You can use Aftershock for this purpose. . Everything I saw on the macromedia site in the flash section points to Aftershock as the way to convert flash movies into an animated gif.. Now what aftershock is... I have no idea:)

Shining Force. That was an aweseom RPG saga that was set up a lot like Final Fantasy Tactics or Vandal Hearts.

The exact same reason any entertainers get paid so much money. WE ARE PAYING THEM! It's sickening for me to watch MTV Cribs and see how lavishly these people live. WTF? Why do they deserve so much for doing so little? No way am I disrespecting the long established bands that more than deserve fame and fortune. But these get rich quick bands are sickening. Like all these new boy and girl group bands that no-one has heard of! They are set for life now, and the skill that they have is something (that when put to perspective with the rest of the world) that they were born with, and didn't have to put any work into. I'm not talking about the talent to play a guitar, that is something that one can learn, and learn well in 5 years. I'm talking about creativity. And whats worse is the boy and girl bands which have neither creativity OR a instrument skill. Singing is not a skill... sorry, but most people can sign as good as the people on TV, it's just that they haven't had voice classes before.

I was crazy about this girl, Erin Ruellis, in elementary school and I saw her on the playground after school. I was watching her from a distance and I walked straight into a metal pole. Blacked out for a split second and was still on my feet when I came too. It was a very weird sensation and I found out later that night that I had a minor concussion- I'm a fast walker. No one saw me do it though as far as I know.

What would everyone think about two subscription rates for Arcanity? One for people with bandwidth and one for people on dialups. There are going to be patches about twice a week that are just bug fixes and little adjustments. Then there are going to be huge patches once a month that are expansion patches if all goes well. If you had a high speed subscription, you'd pay the regular price and download all of the expansion patches from a special patch server. If you had a dialup subscription, you'd pay approximately $1.00 more per month and would get a CD in the mail each month a few days before the patch would be activated. We took about a full day and reviewed the vague ideas we had formed up to that point and expanded on and elaborated on those ideas. This is what we came up with. Try lowering his magic resistance, with lower resistance, or some priest spell that gives characters magic resistance. It overrides the old magic resistance, so it is actually lowered. What else. I was some time ago. Really high level characters help too, of course. I had my lvl 19 Edwin take out the Red Dragon by himself. You probably should check some BG2 sites. It's a good way of keeping people in-line and it offer support for those that are spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually weak. Not that everyone that follows organized religion is weak, thats not what I'm saying. It just offers a safehaven for people that are weak, it offers guidance to those that are lost, and it gives you someone to blame for your short commings. I think that a world without religion would be impossible because people are not strong enough to hold themselves responsible for their actions. People are scared to be in control. Religion offers many great values and morals, but you do not need religion to develop them. As you might have guessed, I do not follow any organized religion, however I do not think poorly of religion. It's just that I have my own moral and ethical standards, and I take responsibility for my own actions. Wether I succeed or fail in life will not be up to god, it will be up to me.

No, 21 is fine. The laws need to be much more stiff when caught driving while under the influence. Things like say an automatic $500 fine for driving under the influence but below the legal limit for first offense, then liscense suspended for second. If over the legal limit, automatic suspension.

Driving after taking a drink of alcohol (or drugs for that matter) is simply stupid, if not life threatening. I don't want those people on the road while I am driving.

Lemme ramble for a bit before answering this question. I saw on the news how people were running all over the stands at Sea World holding sign's that said "Free Shamu!" Basically the news said that there was a group pushing for the right to free killer whales into the wild instead of keeping them. To me this is absolute BS. This group wants to free one lousy whale which provides thousands of people a day entertainment? How insane is that!? If people held a cerimony once a month which killed a random animal and this event was a popular as a well known concert I wouldn't object. As human beings we have to remember why we are the only life forms on this planet which have rational thought. We are special and are far superior to any species on Earth. Thus the sacrifice of an animals well being (so long as it has some major benefit for people) is worth people's happiness. In the Shamu example what if Shamu really was released? Then millions of children's hearts would be broken when their most loved animal Shamu can no longer be seen. Did those f***ing people even think about that at all? And whose to say that Shamu would even live CLOSE to as long in the wild as s/he would be under the care of trainers. Jesus, I'll do a few jumps and flips if I could be fed and entertained ALL DAY LONG.

So my answer to the question is actually another question.

Is the well being of human beings in the US (being lower gas prices FINALLY) really worth the small possibility that there could be an oil spill off the shores of Alaska?

IMHO, hell yes. Let them drill up there. We might as well be worring about the building of power plants cause they have a small chance of EXPLODING! But oh that right, we're talking about animals safety here, not human beings. Jesus people, get your damn priorities straight!

Just for your sake Kintoun, I'll disagree (althought I don't totally). Imagine being put into a glass box the size of a small gass station bathroom, and placed in a zoo, (just for scenario sake, people would be entertained by this). How would you feel? Would the thought that you were entertaining thousands of chidren reconsile the fact that you were going to be stuck in this box, or doing tricks in a slightly bigger box for the rest of your life?Or, say you couldn't think rationally. All you know is you are stuck in this box. You see animals moving around the box (the children). That's all you know about it. You have no idea about the fact that you're entertaining them, you're just stuck in a small space.
The truth is animals hate being enclosed. My rats hate their cage. They love being let out to play, and Ruby loves to attempt to run away. But the difference between Ruby and Shamu is that Ruby was born in a cage. She has lived all of her life in a cage , and she will most likely die in a cage. She was bred as a house pet. She loves humans, and she enjoys the attention she gets, rats love contact from humans or other rats, it's their nature. Whales aren't meant to enjoy cheering crowds. Shamu wasn't born in an aquarium. That's why people set out to set him free.

On the other hand, I myself, love aquariums. I have nothing aginst anyone who would set out to set a whale free, but I'm not against those who are all for keeping the whales captive.

I actually want to comment on Vilk's question about the Oil Drilling in Alaska. This is the kind of stuff that I really hate because it's just a bunch of political BS that plays us as a bunch of idiots. My cousin is a producer for the BBC and I saw her just the other month, and she had just come back from Alaska where she was doing a stroy on this subject.

I can't remember the name of the town that she stayed in but it's the northern most town in Alaska so I'm sure you know what I'm talking about, I just can't think of it at this time. She had a whole bunch of pictures and stories. She showed me some pictures of beautiful mountains, like the photos you see in the television commercials that protest the drilling, and she said "this is not where they'll drill" Then I saw some pictures of her on a gigantic ice plain with absolutely nothing but flat ice as far as the eye can see, and she said "this is where they will be drilling" I really think that our beautiful natural resources should be protected, but there are none in danger by this proposed drilling.

Here's an interesting side note. Being that the work for the oil companies up there is horribly difficult and dangerous, she said that starting salary for someone with only a high school degree is about 120K a year.

I just saw it last night, and I'm suprised that this is the first post I've seen on our boards talkin about this issue. I figured that there would be more talk about it.

I thought that it was good, it didn't totally amaze me, but it was good. Some of the graphic were just incredible. Like at the very end when the credits are rolling, you look down on a mountain range, and it's just unbelievable that it's computer generated. It was pretty good, they stuck to FFish story and environment. Keeping in mind that this movie is less than 2 hours, it was not as detailed and with fewer suprises than a typical FF plot. I know that it did somewhat poorly at the box office, but FF isn't exactly a staple of pop culture. There was something about it that somewhat bothered me, but I just can't put a finger on it. I think that it was the whole concept of the phantoms, although they do a good job character development, there is still something about them that is a little hard to grasp. You'll see what I mean, I don't want to say much more on this subject. Overall, I'd say that most people on our boards would probably find it as a good way to get rid of 8 bucks and a couple of hours.

Question: Whats the longest you've ever stayed awake?
