So I'm sitting here watching the DIsney Channel which my gay roommate has left on b4 he feel asleep. I'm rdy for a rant/rave.

What kind of crap is the Disney channel playing? I mean... this ain't quality programming at all! Whats keeps this channel profitable!? For the young viewers maybe I can understand. But I once knew this holy-roller family of Christians who would ONLY let their children watch the Disney Channel and nothing else. What happens when these poor kids get to high school or college and get a HUGE culture shock!? The same thing that happens to grrls that went to private christian schools ( yummie ). They rebel up the arse!

And I REALLY hate all of the controversy floating around about the things that kids watch on TV. There is no way your convincing me that after a kid watches a gory movies that he wants to go out and gut a guy with a spoon while he is hanging from his toes... If anything, programs like these desensitize children for the REAL world, better preparing them for the harshness of life. None of this goody-two-shoes ( sp? ) crap that loops in the Disney Channel!

Fantasy is a great thing, and I love it quite a bit. In my games and my anime. But if all you ever live your life in is the fantasy crap thats on the Disney Channel, then when it comes time for those fantasies to be shattered ( it's called the real world ppl ), it's gonna hurt, and hurt HARD! And "the bigger they are, the harder they fall". Just about every Disney Story is exactly the same. Nobody dies, cept for animals ( and when they do, OMFG the overacting of the deaths! ), the hero always wins, never a bad word. Watching this crap makes me feel bad when my arse doesn't come out of the bathroom pristine perfect. I mean, even the ppl who draw some of the Disney Cartoons can't stand how "clean" the cartoons are. They add all sorts of hidden scenes which only the quick eye can catch.

Trying to detatch a child from the cruelness of reality is like trying to remove a baby from a 14yr old prostitute giving natural birth ( ick, maybe I went overboard on that analogy )! What I am talking is how Disney attempts to feed children fantasy, as if trying to say that all other films and movies are "of the devil". With the proper mix of fantasy and reality, a person can turn out ok.

Ok I think I am spent now... I'll add/explain more as I think of it later...

PS: B4 I get mass flames I have no problem with Disney at all. I was raised on their cartoons. I'm raving about Disney Channel here people, and it's out-of-touchness with reality.

Disney is the root of mediocrity, or evil, same thing really.
Disney takes an older story, politically corrects it, then sells it en masse in a shiny little package to the mass market. People love it because it's safe. you can't go wrong with it, it's still useless though. I pity the kid that grows up with only this sort of thing to go on, the world will tear 'em apart...
There's a reaon why Grimm's fairy tales, the original ones, and stories like the them were, well, so bloody grim... Life wasn't and still isn't, pretty. Those who didn't make their reality check suffered for it.
Today the abilty to hide from reality is at such an all-time high that an absurd belief is making ground. The belief being that if you dress up reality in enough prettyness, and hide all that is frightening or bad, you can make it go away..
Well, head in sand works pretty good for the ostrich, ja?

Oy, if ye'll pardon my ranring as well... but I'll save ye from the worst of what I can say on this subject... Yrrrrrch.

I too have been exposed to the perfect world of Disney, and although I am sadly deprived of the Disney Channel, I am all too much aware of the lack educational value of the average Disney family entertainment product and the inevitable merchandise in its wake. But since the shareholders are allmighty and are blind to the world, I fear the only thing we can do is pray that they won't make a Persistent Online Disney World, as I don't see a Bambi 2: The Reckoning in the near future. I don't know how you could ever have allowed it to get this far. A bright new world it is not.

For mental health reasons (j/k) (mostly because I spend all my time drawing instead) I try to avoid watching tv because it use to take up too much of my time. Dosen't matter what cannel you're watching, there will always be some form of corruption, annoyance, voyeurism, or advertising... COMMERCIALS PISS ME OFF!!! Anyhow.. TV has become a waste of time to me, I'd rather try to be creative for myself (art) or watch something on DVD or VHS... No commercials (unless you bother watching the pre-views)...

I heard the guy who started Disney was a very secluded and detached person who was bitter and repressed.
I mean what kind of person thinks up a talking mouse?
Any way anyone remember that episode of the Simpson’s where the itchy and scratchy cartoon takes the piss out of steamboat wily (early Disney animation).

on the other hand.. my daughter is 9 and loves the disney channel. she is well aware that the real world is not like the perfect lives she sees there but doesnt care. Its a way for her to excape just how ugly the real world can be, and let me tell ya what in my neighborhood it can be really ugly. we have seen folks shot down on the street, trash, pollution and homeless peeing on our sidewalk. I do not begrudge her her time in la la land. Ps disney didnt start the happy ending deal. that was begun way long ago by fairy tales and such. Alot of the time our childhood rhymes sprung from something bad and its a childs way of making it so they understand. At 9 and younger hopefully you arent jaded and still hope that the world is a nice place. I would do anything to keep it that way but alas its just not possible..

The thing I do object to about the disney channel is that they program the children with their comercials.. they play over and over and are always promoting disney, disney theme parks, disney movies, disney specials, disney bands.. thats what makes me sick:)

Just to straighten you out, Walt Disney (the guy who founded Disney) Was a very open and sociable person. He made up Mickey because he was a "Sympathetic Creature"..
Although, I must say I loved that episode of the Simpsons too...
