I usually dont do this so early.. chances of me actually getting my name in game are pretty poor .. but heck, I was inspired by the roleplay talk in the other message board and the words started to flow.. so I made a brief story starter for Indigo. I do this for most of my characters.. it gives me a basic platform and history for the rp to begin..click the link below my Indigo image to link to the story.

Cool backstory. Did you do the artwork yourself?

That was a very nice backstory, I might write one of my own. You come from a very disfunctional family. Just an RP question, do you guys and gals play as the same sex as you are in RL or do you like to switch and rp the opposite sex? Do you get anoyned when someone else does it? Just wondering. Ive met plenty of girls that play guys and guys that play girls as long as it fun rp its not a problem. The problem comes if someone starts getting romantic with you, hehe so you have to be careful. On the same note people shouldnt immediately take anything for face value on the internet. Sad but true there are plenty of weirdos out there who will lie their behinds off to get what they want out of you. But that aside its roleplaying its supposed to be fun.:)Being the opposite gender can be very interesting roleplaying.

I try to stay IC the same sex as I am. Otherwise I feel goofy. But playing a female DOES have it's advantages, as males seem to be VERY giving to females =) Especially when it comes to a cry for help.]
O duh! =P I forgot to say, awesome story on your character Indigo, was a good idea!

Ahh it's nice to hear what you think Indigo, I'm the same way. I have a female character in Eq, and some guys just assume that I'm female and start to give a whole bunch of stuff without asking for it... your point and Kintou's point are both very good. Thanks for the reply,

I believe that gender is only important to your character concept. I've played both for years in table-top without a problem.

i think u shouldnt play a female character if your male and vise versa...there's no stopping you,but it just sends the impression that your actually a girl. (such as-its kinda strange when a knight starts flirting with a rouge, and the rouge replies "im male" i can just see the knight turn into a ghost)

Nice backstory Indigo.
As to playing opposite gender in roleplaying. Sure I don't see the harm in it. Its fun to try different races and genders. I played a male charactor in EQ just because I hated the way most of the females looked.

The whole idea of role-playing is to play a character. It doesn't matter if the character is a thief, mage, elf, dragon, male, or female. Nobody has any restrictions on their characters other than what they set for themselves. ( Other than what the DEVs designed).
Build a character, Play her/him the way you designed, and have fun.

Kymeri, I also hated the EQ female meshes; Verant thinks just because they have a female animator it justifies any measure of sexist imagery. Whenever that comes up in their interviews, they always just say "hey, a woman made them. That means all women must think it's in good taste."
The models were the main reason I stayed away from EQ; another reason I liked UO. The characters may have been cookie-cutter, but at least they made more sense.

Ya to be a female character in eq almost required a guard to go with you. I got endless grief about my female characters and it wasnt like I had a choice in the way they were dressed. The last thing you wanna hear when you are getting your arse kicked by an npc is how great you look:) Personally I dont play guys very well, how can ya play what you dont understand;) hehe .. I hope this company puts more stock into rp then sex appeal. Or at the very least .. if they make all the females run around half clothed then the male characters should be that way too:P Equal rights :) I think someone should take the designer of eq's models and stick her in a half elf outfit and throw her out on the street.. but ya probably cant fault her because the boss was probably giving instructions:) At any rate its no secret that sex appeal is a big seller I just hope that instead of wasting space making male and female outfits look drastically different they just give us more choice on what we wear, colors, lengths, and style.. facial features really dont show that well so hair styles and clothes are going to make us look what we are.

We will see what they do with this thread soon when Beta is released.

As far as I know only Acks and Humans will be useable when Beta releases... So it'll be hard to judge then. Once we get the other races in (especially Elves, the fair race) then we'll see BHT's opinion on sexuality.

True, Rolfe and Riche said for the Beta test on Tanzia that only Acks and Humans would be used, but there are so many ways to customize the looks of Humans alone. My major beef with AC. There is only one race to choose from, Human so why wouldn't you give it as many customizable features as possible. Even with being able to pick Hair, beards, eyes, nose, theres not alot of difference in the looks since everyone looks Asian.... Make sure that with Humans you can do enough different looks to truily make someone ethnic if they choose to be. Example, in UO you chould never get a skin tone that truily looked black or pick a hair style other than one afro looking one.
Also being able to either pick from a large selection of tatoos that could be placed on the charactors face, chest, arms, back, legs, wrists, ankles,etc.. or even allowing players to import tatoos to add to their charactors would realy kick up the level of customization from other MMORPG's. Also varity of clothes and the ability to dye clothes or armor adds to the charactors unique looks.
Everyone would know Kymeri was coming into town when they saw that purple/green/yellow plaid kilt, purple tunic, and green and yellow vest.
