What's everyone's preferred method with dealing with l33t d3wdZ?

I imagine Morte's has something to do with ripping out spinal cords, and Wrentia's with The Sticks (TM).

I would ignore them after I giving them many strange looks, and ask them "What is this gibberish you speak of?" and try to clue them into the whole RP thing, but some people are just dense, those are the people I'll ignore and have Ubik talk to them.... Dunt-Dunt-Dun

I would stare into their eyes in confusion until they run away questioning their sanity. Or I would just rouse a mob to lynch them. Maybe a few days of solitary imprisonment might work. Or I would just bug them but ignore their replies until they are IC. But then again, I just might whack them with their own spinal cord until they repent their sins.

ewwww.... well you got to go with what works. But wacking them with you spinal cord might hurt I'm just guessing. But there's nothing like good old "mob justice"... I didn't think of lynching them that could always work

Well it all depends.. is it one or a pack of them? Hehe. Ignoring someone may make them leave you alone, ripping out their spinal cord definately will .. but.. I like the solution more of roleplaying to them. Like I said earlier .. alot of people dont know how to roleplay but may perhaps learn by example. I guess each case is an individual case. . it really depends on how the person comes off. A newbie may have no concept of the expected roleplaying .. and a subtle whisper will go a lot farther then allenating them will. People learn by example.. That said if you find someone truly disruuptive who doesnt take that subtle hint then its really not your responsibility to make them behave themselves. Thats where the game co. needs to step in and lend a hand. I think the worst ooc is arguing with someone about being ooc. Dont let them pull you out of character. Let the gods of the game pull them in. If that isnt possible the next best approach is ignoring them and going on with your rp business. Peer pressure works pretty well. Just dont feed them with attention,

Yep, no OOC. Doesn't give other players a chance to OOC, and we'll make sure to make them feel uncomfortable when they try to talk OOC so it won't happen.

I'd chase down the dewds till I got em cornered and then release the wrath of the heavens upon them like no other!

How dumb. It seems that GeoCities must log all viewers of my pic and realize that they are not viewing my pic from inside GeoCities, so they cut any connections (if that makes any sense). GeoCities says it doesn't allow people to put up files for the purpose of outside linking. Smarter software than I thought.

Ack, thats what I was just talking about. xoom.com (aka NBCi.com) and geocities don't let you externally link to your site. Thats whats wrong with my pic and why it hasn't been showing for awhile. So stay away from those places.

When you go for hosts try to avoid the big names (Geocities, NBCi) and go for a smaller company with better options, such as VirtualAve or Prohosting.

A post in triplicate. How enervating. We can also lock them away into a mental institution for a while, and do tests on them. They can be useful for target practice and testing new spells. After that, they can fight in the arena. If they are good enough, they will regain their freedom. A second offense means lifelong imprisonment in the institution.

Yeah I'm not sure whats up with that, the link's fine, checked it out the other nite when I noticed it. All I did to fix it was resubmit my profile, but tonigt that didn't work, so I don't know if its the boards, which have be acting screwy or if Tripod is blocking it out. I saw another game getting ready to go online, which I think has the perfect answer to the d00d's. They have the NPC's go after them, it isn't roll playing and anything not involved with your character's style is considered a huge NO-NO so the NPC's hunt and kill anyone who uses the gibberish.

Not a bad idea. Could label the people who speak gibberish as insane, and a endangerment to the world. Hmm, but I wouldn't want to see people not wanting to play Arcanity because they can't speak freely. Don't get me wrong, I'm way against dewds, but I'm more for increasing the popularity of Arcanity. The more popular Arcanity becomes to more Arcanity will be able to add on for all their clients.

Besides it would be very difficult for an automated system to 1) screen all the conversation on the entire server and 2) recognise if a character is talking OOC or not. While some words are obviously OOC, with others it depends on their context, which is near impossible to screen effectively.
