I just heard about this game today at rpgplanet.com. And I was just wondering if the beta would be starting any time soon and if it was what would be the requirements to get in on the the test?

>>Can I get on beta so I can play for free?<<
ARUGH!
The real great thing about Arcanity right now is that it is NOT in beta and that the developers are on this board listening to our ideas. When we bring up ideas, they tell us how they approach them in the game. They ask for our input. To me, this type of interaction is much more important than being able to beta the game. I almost fear the fact that the boards may become flooded soon due to realization that Arcanity exists. Too much of a good thing isn't always good.
As I recall, beta starts early 2001, and I am sure Rolfe will at some point post how they will determine who will be apart of the beta. In the mean time, sit back, take a deep breath, and start thinking up some fresh ideas and begin posting them and your reasoning behind them. We have an oprotunity to be apart of the creation....Which is much more fun than finding bugs...

We're shooting for a "public" beta of around March or so (2001). It could be a little earlier or later depending on how things go. The best way to get into beta is to make sure you are registered on the message boards with a valid e-mail address, since that's how we'll probably be contacting potential testers.
Wrentia, I'm happy to see that players such as yourself are liking the way we are going about creating Arcanity. It's certainly not the standard way to develop a video game, so we'll just have to wait and see how it works out. I think we'll end up with a kick-arse game! :)

Yes Wrentia, my paddowan, you are learning well ;-). Arcanity rules, and though I'm not looking forward to the flood of messages on the boards once people realize its greatness, more people = bigger world which generally equals more fun. Greetings to the boards, Siayajin, be sure that if you're gonna be here, you're going to participate. Lend your ideas and let the staff know, cause they're here to listen (they really are, isn't it awesome??). Oh, and read everything in the links, game, FAQ, and company sections... And all the news... And download all the site graphics to use as wallpaper... Err, sorry, back to life...

Hey wrestia i wasn't asking about the beta so I could play for free you moron. I have played every Online RPG that has came out and i jjust wanted top know when the damn beta starteds so dont be all
"I wanna be in the beta so i can play for free" dooo dooo dooo
I was just wondering when the game was coming out because it looks like it could be fun so yes i would want to be in the beta but not because I want to play for free. You damn EQ newbie so next time you open your mouth make sure you have all the facts about the ppol who ask questions on the threads.
PS btw that face is you sucking my dick so have a nice day =)
DEVELOPER EDIT FOLLOWS:
LISTEN UP! WRENTIA HAS BEEN AROUND FOR A WHILE AND SHE GETS ALONG JUST fine with everyone. In fact, you're officially the first one to have a problem with anyone else on the message boards. We're not too happy with your response here. The last line is particularly tasteless of you. I'll admit that Wrentia's post might have sounded a little bit less than cordial; it might even be construed as rude. I don't think she meant it that way though and she certainly didn't call you any names or tell you to suck on any part of her. My point here is two-fold.
First off, learn to control yourself in public. Make no mistake, this IS a public place. Her tone sounded like it might have been mildly poking fun at you and you had a coniption fit (if anyone knows how to spell kaniption, please post it. thanks:)) I mean, really. Read what she wrote and then read what you wrote back, don't you think you might have overreacted just slightly?
Second off, this isn't a flame board. Poking fun is allowed, but calling people morons and refering to your anatomical extremities because you can't laugh at yourself a little isn't allowed. There's lots of better ways to handle things and I bet if you had just said, "Hey, ease up, Wrentia. Go easy on the new guy for crying out loud." she would have probably gladly appologized for poking fun at you. If you want to flame, go to http://www.gamedev.net or else take it to the Horizons message boards.
I hope you can appreciate what I'm saying here, Siayajin. I think we can pretty much all agree on this. If not, you're just going to have to duel me when the beta is up. Cause although we run a clean board, you can do almost anything you want in the game world.
Thanks,
Rolfe

Not only I but Rich of the Brickhouse staff answered your question. And not once did I make a personal insult to you. I'm sorry if I sounded a bit snobbish, I wasn't trying to be....but I don't think I deserved your response.
Also, could we get an entry into the FAQ about the beta?

We'll be posting FAQs soon. We've been pretty much swamped and I'm sure it shows in that we've fallen a little behind on the message boards because of it. FAQs will go up regarding the BETA issue in detail and some other questions we've gotten recently, including the existence of monks and hand to hand combat in Arcanity. Monks in Arcanity you say?

Wow.. I'm too busy to post for a few days and I miss all sorts of interesting things. :)
Wrentia, I agree with you completely. The great thing about this board so far is the lack of people merely hanging around to see if they can get some free video gaming. Frankly, I was shocked to see Siayajin's response to your reply, (which personally, I thought was completely reasonable); oh, well- I guess the rest of the internet was going to find out of Arcanity sometime. The bad elements will have to be taken with the good.
Anyway, I hadn't thought the beta test was that close- is the game that far along in development? I'm getting more respect for the programmers all the time. You guys are making one kick-ass game.

Ok maybe i did over react. But the fact still remains that i have been playing MMORPGs since Dark sun is out on TEN which btw was the great onlin RPG to date. But I dont like it being said about me that i want in the beta because i want to play for free. If anything I would like to be in the beta bc this game seems like it is gonna be like a 3d UO in original days when it was acutally fun. So sorry wrentia for making those comments. But come on just because i ask when the beta is going to be it doesn't mean im asking for a free ride
