Yes, you read that right. Apparently, "Mystere" was banned by Verant for posting a graphic fictional piece on a Non-Sony, Non-Official, Non-Verant board.
For more info, check out this news item (http://www.evilavatar.com/EA/News/M14433/default.htm) at Evil Avatar.

If that's true, that's the biggest load of crap I've heard in a LONG time!! How can they ban you for something that has nothing to do with the game?!?!?! So I suppose they could ban you for other real life things. So I guess racists, homosexuals, people over 6' tall, people with last names that start with C, and people whose social security number divided by 684 gives a remainder of 251 are all banned. Sorry!!! Too Bad!! But because of something that has nothing to do with EQ, you are banned from EQ!!!
That's BULL$H!T!!!!!!!! I'll be so mad if that's true... I better stop typing before I write something that's going to get my EQ account banned. I guess I know who Verant is voting for this election year.
P.S. Anyone who votes for Gore is banned from Arcanity :)

What? This game is produced by right wing fascists? How can you be remotely artistic and support your local redneck for President?
I'm Canadian, so I'm not entitled to vote in the matter, but George Jr's a nightmare waiting to happen...
As to the ban, yeah, I hear it's true... more fascism in action...
Cheers,

Verant's official response to the banning:
Like all other account issues, this is a matter between us and the owner of the account. It's not something that we're going to discuss or justify publicly.
We make determinations based on information at hand regarding who is or is not having a positive affect on EverQuest's community. If we determine that one person's actions make EverQuest a game that other people do not want to play based upon those actions, we will excercise our right to refuse service to the extent necessary to provide a reasonable and enjoyable gaming environment.
This is the extent to which we'll address this specific issue. If people have general questions not related to the specific issues in this case, I'll be happy to field them tomorrow. This issue is however closed.

Sony/Verant have also strong-armed IGN's EQVault into removing the 'offending' story from their message boards.
As for presidential voting? Well... I can't support Bush (especially after reading Al Franken's article in the latest Rolling Stone) nor Gore ("..."). Who's that leave? Nader? Buchanan? Hrm. Who's running for the Communist party this year, comrade? :)

Hey, I read something like this, I think it was either 1984 or Fareinheight 451 or something. This sucks. Corporations think they can do anything and still be decent... A good link for you fellas, http://www.adbusters.org. By the way, if I could vote, I'd vote Gore, simply because Bush is NEVER EVER getting my vote, and Gore's the only other guy with a remote chance of winning.

Alright, I found the article mentioned on Blue's News, so I have some links for you all to read up on:
The link from Blue's:
http://boards.station.sony.com/everquest/Forum2/HTML/020716.html
The link from that board to the IGN board. Look for a
thread titled ':(':

According to something I read there, at the same time Mystere is getting banned, there are a couple of wood elf females advertising themselves in a sex-for-money type deal on a (non-Verant) website. Something else which supposedly "When brought to the attention of Gordon, it is my understanding he stated nothing could be done; the website did not claim to be affilated with Sony - in essence it hurt noone" (Reference: http://vnboards.ign.com/message.asp?topic=7139510&replies=110 Look for a post authored by Kielle). Sound fucked? We like to think so. Man, I'm glad Arcanity is coming out to save us all...

Is any game worth playing if the people running the game use these tatics on the players? Games are supposed to be fun and stupidity like this is the easiest way to drive away players that realize the paranoia of saying the wrong thing isn't worth playing the game. We should try to draw them to our game. They will have more fun here.
