i was just thinking..and maybe i'm a moron...but dont you think it would be great to be able to run a farm or something, and like run a shop and sell the foods, perhaps NPC's would regularly come to your cart or whatever u have and buy them...

it'd also be neat to be able to chop down tree's and make arrows n' stuff outa the wood, UO has stuff like that in it..and actually i'm very fond of that part of UO...

it would be nice to be able to build a boat too..

anybody agree with me?

I'd personally love to be able to do that, and things like that, and from what the general feeling is, those things will generally be available, with some exceptions, notably that there will be no deformable terrain (can't find the specific quote, but it was along the lines of "if there was a certain spell that could destroy trees, as soon as someone got the ability to cast that spell, there would be no trees around"). I suppose you could still harvest lumber without actually affecting supply, at the cost of some realism... What that would do to the economy, I don't know, I'm not that good of a statistician...

all i can say is i wanna be a lumberjack!

trust me, you dont want to be a farmer... its not that fun, the most fun you can have is wrestle rams, and that still leaves big ugly marks all over you.

it would be cool to be a lumberjack or something, also being able to morph the terrain a bit would be cool, like make a trench, or an underground tunnel or something.

"Look, in order to maintain air-speed velocity, a swallow must beat its wings 43 times every second, am I right?"
"Please!"
"Am I right??"
"I'm not interested!"
"But it could be carried by an African swallow."
"Yeah, but not a European swallow is my point."
"But supposing two swallows carried it together."
"Ahh, no, they'd have to have it on a line."
"Well, simple, they'd just use a strand of creeper!"
"What, held under the dorsal guiding feathers?"
"Well, why not??"

"...and then one Thursday, nearly two thousand years after one man had been nailed to a tree for saying how great it would be to be nice to people for a change, a girl sitting on her own in a small cafe' in Rickmansworth suddenly realized what is was that had been going wrong all this time, and she finally knew how the world could be made a good and happy place, This time it was right, it would work, and no one would have to get nailed to anything. Sadly, however, before she could get to a phone to tell anyone about it, a terriblem stupid catastrophe occured, and the idea was lost forever. This is not her story..."

Nope....never heard of Douglass Adams....:)

"Seven and a half million years."

Well ithink there should be some amount of traforming by people but slowly it would grow back to its normal self so if you do cut down a tree in like 3 hours it will be back and if you dig a tunnel affter a little while it will be gone

BelDragos

I think that would be too hard to keep track of. Maybe if you build on the site it would change. The process for building sounds rather costly so that would prevent entire areas from being laid to waste.

Going to repeat again in this thread that the devs have already stated that there will be no deformable terrain... I would assume that if anything is built, the devs would change it manually rather than have the program do it automatically. Less overhead that way.

No deformable terrain....just give me a map, a stopwatch, and a compass and I shall navigate the world in a voice controlled cart with no windows......

Anyone know where I stole that reference from?

It is a great movie..and only Sean Connery could do a Soviet sub captain with a scottish accent.....

Sean could read the telephone book out loud and keep an audience entertained....

Do you remember The Sword of the Valiant when he played the Green Knight? How about Time Bandits or Outland?

Wrentia
11-10-2000, 05:46 PM
was worth it. Time bandits is a classic all by itself. I never saw Outland, and Sword of the Valiant was an exercise in how to make s fantasy genre movie completely the wrong way. :)

Time bandits...I haven't seen that in ages..I will need to rent it again...and that reminds me it may be time to see Brazil again as well......

..this will be an odd movie night (maybe I'll top it off with Heavy Metal....)

One Sean Connery filn that I thought sucked was Highlander 2. You know, the one where everyone was space aliens. Bad script.

Russa House and The Name of the Rose were most excelent though.

Ugh! Just saw Highlander 2 last night on cable, reminded me why the movie industry and I try to forget it exists. I am a James Bond fan and I think Sean is still the best one.

Generic
11-12-2000, 10:06 AM
There has been no other james Bond...the British Secret Service has been sending out these poor replacements for decades.....

I would rather see Sean Connery still playing the role...even "00" agents have to age.......

Maybe we can have "Never Say Never Say Never Again"

BelDragos

I agree.

I would rather have a good acter than a pretty face as Bond.
