And how about sound? What level of sound realism are you shooting for? Will surround sound speakers be utilized if available?

The music is going to be awesome. Wickleton's around here somewhere, he's our musician. Rolfe isn't too shabby at music either, but he's busy with programming and world design. It's up to them if they want to post some "speaker shots" of music.

Corellian Knight is writing the sound code, he's around here somewhere, too.... I don't think we're going to use 3D sound. But I bet if you didn't tell you, you wouldn't notice anyway. It's sort of a load. I've never noticed true 3D sound in any game, even with "surround sound" computer speakers. So we're just going to go with good old-fashioned stereo sound, which is a step above what other similar games have done correctly from what I've heard. And I've heard a lot.

A couple of "speaker shots" is actually a really good idea, sound is a great thing, especially music.

i'd like to have some clips of the music, since i listen to music so much, i'm a musician myself and well i want some mp3's to put on my playlist!

I need to swap out some of the midi samples that Whickleton is using with some more up to date samples. Then I'll convert to MP3 and see about posting. It's going to be at least a week and a half though.

HA HA HA. sorry, we've been quite busy and to tell you the truth I'd forgotten about posting the music. If I don't write something down, there's a pretty lousy chance I'll remember it. Ask my girlfriend, our anniversary was a week ago... from what she told me. he he. Anyway, screenshots I DID write down and that's on the top of my list. I'll write down music right now. I still haven't seen Whickleton in quite a long time, so all I have are MP3's, which means I can't swap out the midi samples. He won't come out of his darned room where he composes all his music. Doors been locked for what seems like weeks.

How about this:

I did indeed promise music samples quite a long time ago and I just plum forgot about them. It's all my fault. I DO NOT have midi's so I can better the sound quality and I don't want to post the MP3's the way they are because they were done on Whickleton's 1992 midi equipment (he's very nostalgiac).

AND ONCE AGAIN, I APPOLOGIZE SINCERELY.

SO:

Send me an email to Rolfe@brickhousetrading.com and I'll send you some music from Arcanity. Specify the MAXIMUM FILE SIZE you want and I'll even approximately adjust it for you up to 3 or 4 megs or so maximum. Make SURE the subject line contains YOUR BOARD NAME and the word "MUSIC" in ALL CAPS. So something like, "Subject: MUSIC FOR CYNYCAL" would do.

Very well composed music clips; thx for letting us have a taste of what is to come :)

The clips I got were a bit etheral which made me wonder if music is going to be mood based? (like EQ) For example Avalon might be great for a very wise and elegant race's home town (high elves or some-such) while 'scott2trimmed' might be used as a traveling song through beautiful scenery along a fairly safe path. (It could make a boat cruise feel more adventersome as well)

Also, I saw mention of skins in the interviews, and was wondering if you might present audio 'skins'? Be able to select from different background musics for different situations maybe? (particularly WRT battle music... unless you have a battle theme song for each attacking opponent... that would be awsome :-)

Hey, I sent you the full versions, Slitherrr. It was several days ago already and I never got an undeliverable mail notice or anything. Are you sure you were right on your max file size? Send me an email and we'll figure it out.


I just checked the date and it was sent on the 9th along with MUSIC FOR EFZ88.


If anyone else hasn't gotten their music yet, please let me know because it means something went wrong.

Alright, I read the documentation for the AntiOnline servers, and I can only receive up to two meg mail attachments. I figured they'd send a refusal message or something, guess not, but I've sent an alternate address, and that should fix the problem. Thanks fellas.
